Ranchi Man Arrested for Rape in Khunti Village, Police Investigation Underway

Ranchi: A 21-year-old man has been arrested from his home located in a village of Khunti district on charges of raping a woman of the same village last Friday and threatening her with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone, police said on Monday.Sub-divisional police officer Varun Rajak said, “The accused has been nabbed and forwarded to jail on Sunday. Further investigation is under way. All possible help would be provided to the survivor.”“The woman’s husband, who is in another state for work, had taken Rs 1,500 from the accused. Last Friday, the accused called the woman to his home under the pretext that his mother wanted to talk to her. When the woman reached the home of the accused, he committed the crime. The mother of the accused was not at home. A case was registered under the BNS on Saturday,” the SDPO added.
